SupportAssist just sits and spins

Hello All,

Have a brand new (ish) 9570. Everything runs like a top, nice laptop. However, when SupportAssist asserts itself via notifications and I let it run, it just sits and spins with the busy signal shown below. No errors or anything. Anything I can do to give it a kick or should I just disable or remove it?

Note that I manually updated Win 10 Pro (1803), removed McAfee and updated Defender.

Thanks!

JB

Hi omortis,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

First thing is to uninstall all instances of SupportAssist (there are at least 2).  You may have to use a 3rd party program to get it all.
Then re-install SupportAssist from the website.  A new version was recently posted, so make sure you have the latest.

If that's not working, please contact me privately and be sure to include your computer's Service Tag number.  Thanks.

@robert p Thanks for your reply. There were actually 4 versions of SupportAssist installed, plus some Remediation plug-in. I uninstalled them all via the Win10 Apps interface, re-installed using the link you provided above and it now works like a charm.

Thanks again,

John

In the folder

C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\bin\Resources\

rename

New-Dell-Logo-White-Small.png

to

New-Dell-Logo-White.png

(just remove the -Small from the end of the file name)
