If you can’t install now, you may not be able to install in the future. Could be some old data that is preventing this. This issue can happen for various reasons. I usually try and do a clean uninstall and reinstall.

Some steps to try…I don’t have an Alienware so the SupportAssist folder may be in an Alieware location.

I suggest restarting the computer before the uninstall attempt to ensure no binaries are loaded at the time uninstall is performed.

  • Uninstall “Dell SupportAssist” and “Dell SupportAssist Agent” (older versions) from the control Panel.
  • Delete folder “C:\ProgramData\PCDr\”
  • From Start > Run type %appdata%, folder appears, delete PCDr and SupportAssist folder if exists
  • Ensure  following 4 windows services are removed from ‘Windows Services’ (Dell Data Vault, Dell Data Vault Processor, Dell Data Vault Service API, Dell Hardware Support and Dell SupportAssist.
  • Reboot system again, this step doesn’t always have to run executed so you can try without reboot initially.
  • Download https://downloads.dell.com/serviceability/catalog/SupportAssistInstaller.exe
  • Right click on exe run as admin

If the above doesn’t work we could try and remove SupportAssist via MS tool and remove one of the registry fields

Use Microsoft tool - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

- to fix MSI corrupt installer database, select Dell SupportAssist and remove it

  • Please perform a clean uninstall on customer system via initial steps above

In regedit - >   Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\  - search for “SupportAssist”  then delete entry.

  • Reboot system.
  • then try installing SA latest version v3.0.2

Download https://downloads.dell.com/serviceability/catalog/SupportAssistInstaller.exe

Still an issue what error msg does it say in the event viewer.

Open Event Viewer -

 Windows Logs - Application

Event Source = msiinstaller and SupportAssistAgent

You don't need support assist especially if you are not a beginner computer user. Uninstall it. You can reinstall it in the future if you want. That might clear up the problem you are having.
