From John Hanson in EMC Education Services:

The event severities of Informational, Warning, Error, and Critical have the same meaning no matter what facility issued them. The severity definitions are listed here:

Information: Require no action by you. Informational codes are valuable to engineering in helping to establish history.

Warning: Are normal and require no action by you unless they occur frequently.

Error: Typically require action by you or a support engineer.

Critical: Typically require action by you or a support engineer.

The Basic Array Feature Events are defined as follows:

Basic Array Feature Events: Events occurring within the storage system and reported by the storage processor.

The other events will relate to the specific facility and are generally from the layered software enabled on the system. So for example, a SnapView event message having a Critical severity would require action to address. Any of the event message codes can be seen within the GUI Event Notification page if you select the “Create Template” option. On the subsequent page select the “Explicit Events” option and click the “Advanced” button. An expandable tree of messages is displayed, for each Severity and for each facility and each having a message code and a description.
