According to the CC Support matrix document for CC v6.0 (document version A030) the VMware agent can only discover ESX 3.0.x, 3.5.x, and 3i.
If you are talking about deploying CC v6.0 on ESX, you can add ESX 2.5.x to the above list.
Looks like v4.x is out from a "supported" perspective.
