Upgrde to latest firmware of Brocade causes switch discovery failure in ecc
Recently we have upgraded all the brocade switches to the latest level firmware.
After that ECC ( v5.2) unable to discover the switches.
I know we need to upgrade ecc to 6.1, but is there any workaround it fix this problem.
I have already applied all the patches for ECC 5.2 (till x.150) which is the last patch for this level, but it doesnt work. can any one help...
If v6.1 is the only solution, then pls share the up gradation procedure from ecc 5.2 to v 6.1.

Hi
As already mentioned by Séamus and Allen
ControlCenter has supported Brocade FAL firmware format up through ControlCenter 6.0. However, Brocade is transitioning its Firmware provider from its FAL agent format to an SMI-S Provider. As of Brocade FOS 6.0.0.x, Brocade will only support SMI-S.
EMC has no plans for ControlCenter 6.0 and 5.2 SP5 to support the SMI-S Provider used in Brocade FOS 6.0.0x and later.
Please note: For ControlCenter 6.1 please refer to the latest 6.1 Support Matrix on powerlink for supported Switch models and for FOS supported versions review the Brocade release notes for the Brocade SMI agent version installed latest 120.11.0
The download location for the Brocade SMI agent and release notes is available on the Brocade website under the EMC ControlCenter 6.1 section at the following URL: http://www.brocade.com/services-support/drivers-downloads/smi-agent/application_matrix.page
Review Page 133 Plan for Brocade switch discovery within the Planning and Installation Guide Volume 1 available on powerlink for the information you require on how to discovey the Proxy switch in the Fabric with the SMI agent and how to discover the switches in ControlCenter 6.1
All the information required for the installation process for ControlCenter 6.1 is available in the Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Planning and Installation Guide Volume 1 "Describes procedures for planning, installing, and configuring ControlCenter components and products. Volume 1 covers installation of the infrastructure, open systems agents, and applications." and ControlCenter 6.1 Upgrade guide (if an upgrade) All ControlCenter documents are available here https://support.emc.com/products/ControlCenter

It's impossible to tell why the switch discovery is failing without seeing EGN/trace x/y logs etc (you might want to open a SR but CC 5.2.x is no longer supported since 31 Jan, 2009).
Please note that Brocade have moved from FAL to SMI in CC 6.1. Check the 6.1 Planning & Installation Guide for more details.
Please reference the 6.1 Upgrade Guide on Powerlink in order to prepare for the actual 5.2.x to 6.1 infrastructure upgrade.

CC5.2 (and 6.0) used the FAL interface through the FCC agent to talk to the Brocade switches.
CC6.1 uses the SMI interface through the FCC agent and the Brocade SMI Provider to talk to the switches.

What version of FOS did you upgrade to? I can't remember off the top of my head if the change was made in v5.3, but absolutely any FOS version 6.x you will not be able to communicate with using anything less than CC v6.1

Sorry, forgot to mention, The Brocades are 5.3.1 so we'll be moving up in stages. the switches I have that are already on 6.0 cannot be discovered, and I don't understand what all I would need for SMI

I'm pretty new to this all, but I have Brocade switches that we are upgrading to FabOS 6.3.1, but my Control center is 6.0. Can I upgrade to control center 6.1, or is this a new license and additional upgrade purchase?
