Upgrade to 6.1 vs. applying 6.0 patches
Quick question....
Are most/all of the patches to 6.0 included in the 6.1 upgrade?
I just installed 6.0 on a new server and upgraded the 5.2SP5 agents to 6.0 (worked perfectly!).
The new version still has several issues - especially with WLA and the Clariion. So, I'm wondering if the upgrade to 6.1 includes all the patches.....
Thanks In Advance,
Julianne

Yes, almost all of the 6.0 hotfixes are automatically included in 6.1. The only ones which did nok make the cut are 6.0 ones which were released very close to the 6.1 GA date (July 17) - these will be packaged as separate 6.1 hotfixes.

If you don't have a compelling reason to upgrade to 6.1 yet, then hold off for a bit (probably a few months). I was forced to upgrade for compatibility reasons (FOS 6.0.0c) but I found 6.0 more stable over all than 6.1. I am still working through the issues with 6.1 and I wish I could have waited a while longer.
Just my experience though. Others may have other opinions (and I'm sure they do...

ControlCenter 6.1 does not support upgrading pre-6.1 agents after doing a fresh ControlCenter 6.1 installation. If you intend to upgrade pre-6.1 agents, you must first upgrade the infrastructure and then upgrade the agents. Installing (not upgrading) a ControlCenter 6.1 infrastructure and then attempting to upgrade pre-6.1 agents will fail. This is due to major design enhancements made to ControlCenter 6.1 including enhanced security features...

Yes, Upgrading to ECC6.1 is possible now. The reason why it was not working earlier because when you do a fresh install of the Repository all records of existing hosts and agents are removed. In ECC 6.1 the security feature includes ability to recognize hosts and agents from there previously defined HostID and AgentID. Because these hosts and agents records (HostID and AgentID) are no longer available the Agents prerequisite check fails to recognize the hosts and their existing agents.
If you have any questions please let me know..

I'm actually painfully aware of the 'enhanced security features'.
I was one of the first customers to attempt upgrading 5.2SP5 agents to a fresh install of 6.1.
I ended up uninstalling 6.1 then doing a fresh install of 6.0. THEN I upgraded my 5.2SP5 agents to 6.0.
So - now I have a fresh 6.0 install, and all of my agents have been upgraded to 6.0.. I sure hope upgrading to 6.1 is possible now. Please tell me you misread my note and that I CAN upgrade now ....
