Tomcat Luancher Failing with NoClassDefFoundError
I'm in the process of doing a new 6.1 install. I have installed all of the master server componets on one server and storage scope on another server. After installing patch bundle 8, the web server on the master server fails on startup with errors like the following. Storage scope is working fine on the orther server.
Could this be a result of a failed upgrade? The install said it was successful, though it seemed rather fast compared to the upgrade on the storage scope server.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/emc/srm/system/TomcatLauncher

Hi,
How many times did you run the UB8 patch on the web server?
Can you confirm if the following directories exists %%\ECC\tomcat and %%\ECC\tomcat6024?
Please run the following command: dir /s %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ECC > C:\temp\eccdir.txt and provide the output of the directory listing of ECC folder
example here is where %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT is the E drive dir /s E:\ECC > C:\temp\eccdir.txt
What version of Apache Tomcat is showing at the top of the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\tomcat\logs\Tomcat_SystemOut.log file?

Conor
Thanks for your help. Renaming the Tomcat6024 directory to Tomcat fixed the problem. I'm not sure why the installer did not rename the directory but renaming it corrected the problem
thanks again.

Hi,
I met the same problem and I have executed the script in CC_4871 and the problem is fixed.
However I have a directory tomcat5528 on each ECC webserver (webconsole, storage scope and the server).
What is the function of tomcat5528 after apply of UB8?
Is this the old version and can this dir deleted afterwards?
Please advise,
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes this directory tomcat5528 is the location for the files for the previous version of tomcat that was installed.
The recomendation would be not to delete this directory.

I deleted my old tomcat directory with no adverse affects. There shouldn't be any issues doing this.

Thanks for this post.
I had a similar issue starting up web service. Applied the patch 4871 and everyting looks good now.
As always, its faster to resolve an issue searching the forums than opening a case and waiting for a call back for hours...
