Storage Agent for CLARiiON in ControlCenter Licensing

Does the Storage Agent for CLARiiON need to be licensed to work properly in a ControlCenter environment or does it work by the honor system?

Hi Vince,

If you don't license the product, the agent won't show up as an option to install when you attempt to 'push' out agents.

for more info:
From page 53 of the ECC Planning & Installation Guide:
8.7 Plan for Celerra, Centera, and CLARiiON agents
These licenses are required to install the following agents:
◆ Storage Agent for CLARiiON, which allows you to explore and
monitor EMC CLARiiON subsystems and their components, such
as storage processors, devices, and the registered hosts that are
connected to them.

Hope This Helps,

Julianne

Yes it does, But SMI does not. So if you don't have a license then you can discover the CX's using SMI Agent.

Have you done this? I understand the info available if you use the SMI agent is significantly less than what you get from the CLARiiON agent.

Not yet. I've found out there are specific hotfixes that need to be applied if managing a FLARE 26 environment. I was going to wait for the dust to settle before I mess up our ECC 6 environment again.
