Question about Control Center

Hi

I have Control Center 6.1, I tried to configure a Vmware ESX 3.5 but it did not work

I have the vmware agent 6.1.0.0.179

I did the following steps:

1.- Click on Discover

2.- Click on ESX server

3.- I typed the hostname, User  and password(root)

4.- I selected the Vmware Agent on Send to

5.- I click on Apply

But the ECC never discover the ESX server.

Does any one know if i made a mistake or something is missing.

Best regards.

Hi,

I recommend opening a SR for this issue as it warrants further investigation (EGV logs etc) from Support.

Hi,

There are a number of known issues that can cause this problem. Search the solutions knowledgebase on Powerlink for "ControlCenter: Cannot discover VMware ESX Servers" and you might start with emc153847, "ControlCenter 6.x Troubleshooting Guide: VMware ESX Server Discovery".

Hope that helps,

David

Hi

Thanks for the info

But let me tell you

I use some documents and I discovered one ESX Server

I followed these steps:

The problem was in the /etc/hosts; I add this line on the Vmware agent server :

11.xxx.xx.65 vmware12.server.abc.def.gh vmware12  and this works fine, I can see the ESX server and its Virtual machines in the ECC console.

but when add another hos in the /etc/host:

11.xxx.xx.115 vmware16.server.abc.def.gh vmware16

When I discovered the second ESX server (11.xxx.xx.115) in the ECC console the vmware12 disappears, i mean, i can see only the Vmware16 instead of vmware12, i suppose i must see both at the same time, the vmware16 replaces the vmware12.

is ther an option to refresh the vmware agent to avoid this? os is there something wrong? why can  i see only one at the same time?

I haver ECC 6.1(6.1.0.0.179), ESX 3.5

Best regards
