Need Help with Performance Manager

Question

I have never used performance manager in ECC 6.0 , I searched for docs in EMC Powerlink.. got some but not much helpful.. so if anyone has any screenshots or any documentation , which will help me to work with performance manager. I wanna monitor performance and check for the disks and ports with severity and do some analysis..

Hi,The following are instructions and requirements for downloading and running the ControlCenter 6.0 Performance Manager Help. Downloading the ControlCenter 6.0 Performance Manager Help: The downloadable .zip is 1.7 MB. Download time varies depending on your connection speed. To download and run the help: Search for 300-004-415_a02.zip in PowerlinkDownload the ControlCenter 6.0 Performance Manager Help. In the File Download dialog box, select 'Save this file to disk', then click 'OK'. After the zip file finishes downloading, extract the help files from 300-004-415_a02.zip to a folder in your hard drive. Important Note: The extracted files require 5.9 MB free disk space. Make sure your file compression program preserves the folder structure of the help files. In WinZip, you do this by selecting 'Use folder names' in the Extract dialog box. To start the help application, locate and double-click on the file named: wlahelp.htm. RegardsNimai Sood

Hi,I would recommend the Online Help in Performance Manager as a good starting point. It has been much improved in CC 6.x.If you're analysing Symmetrix performance then I suggest having a look at EMC ControlCenter Performance Manager: The Symmetrix in Pictures. This is an Engineering document which was published in Jan '04. Some things will have changed in the past few years re PM but the fundamentals are the same in terms of performance analysis. Thanks Nimai - the zip file packages the PM Online Help together nicely so that you always have a copy of it available without needing to launch the application.

Another useful reference doc that I've come across is the Performance Manager Metrics Glossary which I've also uploaded to ftp://ftp.emc.com/outgoing/wlasymm/
