Move ECC installation to another drive

Hi

Trying to move a ControlCenter 6.1 UB5 or UB7 installation from C:\ drive to another one ( i.e. D:\ )

I had in my mind to use the HF4345 or HF4563 backup and restore scripts to perform first a copy of installation and after that, move the ECC install root folder to the another drive, execute the restore process indicating the new installation folder.

Restore actions seem to be successful, but after reboot the server and looking the services, env variables, etc point to the original one. A little part of the registry entries have been modified to the new location, but most not.

Can anyone tell me if have tried this procedure before, and give me his opinion?

Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet would be to use the process you have with two steps added in the middle.

  • Backup your environment as documented
    • Uninstall ControlCenter from the host
    • Install ControlCenter again to the correct location
  • Restore procedure as documented

This would have everything pointing to the correct location. Keep in mind that the DR recovery process assumes that the original server is gone (or wiped) and that you are restoring to a server that has things configured the way you want them.

Hi Allen

Many thanks

I'll perform a quick test in my lab to check the proposed procedure; it's a quite long, but it's an interesting option.
