Group objects in Performance Manager

Hello guys,

Is there a way in PM to group object, for example i have a ttp file that was collected via storstpd from a symm that is not part of my ECC infrastructure. When i open this ttp file and look at devices, there are a few thousand devices but i only need to look at performance of 70. Can i group these 70 devices so when i need to look at read/write IOPS i can only look at these 70 and not having to manually select each and every one. For symms that are part of my infrastructure i can use device groups but this is a stand alone box. Any ideas ?

Thanks

this question was never answeed.  I also need to do this.

We have an Oracle Applications DataBase Server with 125 MetaDevices.  I need to produce a report for IOPs, Utilization, MB/s, etc, for only these 125 devices.  How can I do that?  I don't want to select them one at a time.  I want to "group" them, so that i can get the report anytime I want.

This is absolutely correct.

Here is another way.

1.  Create a "user group" in ECC.

o    right click in the left "tree panel" of ECC  >  Create User Group  >  Name  >  drag objects (hosts, devices, etc)

2.  Open PM.

o     Open Data Set (Symmetrix, S/N, Date)

o     Devices  >  Right click  >  New Data View  >  Objects  >  Specified  >  Groups  >  Select Group.

     o     Add to Public View.

this is excellent Lan, i also found the option i was looking for a long time. That is being able to show sum of all devices on the chart, instead of metrics of each individual device.

Oops, should have selected "Groups" and find my meta instead of "Objects" ..it's working now.

Thanks

Lan,

any tricks on how to display a total for all meta members. For example i have one meta that has 30 members, i would like to look at total io of the meta, including its members. In metrics tab i can select my meta but than it displays each meta member and its stats individually.

Thank you

I am still not able to get it . If I select a meta from the groups, the graph still shows multiple lines for the IOPS for each member of that meta. What I want is only one line for IOPS on the meta as a whole. Can we do that?

make sure to select "Sum Across Select .." , before you select device and press the big black array point down (Add to Contents)
