EMC Ionix storage connectivity
Hello All,
I saw a presentation about EMC Ionix and i have a few questions:
1 - Its necessary to have the ionix storage scope connect in to the SAN or all the information is gattered from the network ?
2 - Its necessary to install a client/agent into the hosts ?
3 - the ionix can get information about the switch - brocade -> zonning, connectivity ?

Hi,
1) Data in the ControlCenter Repository is used to populate tables in the StorageScope Repository through an Extract, Transform, and
Load (ETL) process. This data is used to provide both current and historical trending data about objects in the environment.
2) Yes, agents have to be installed in order to get the full functionality of objects in ControlCenter. Agents collect data and monitor the health of
objects. In addition, it can run user commands for configuring disk groups, volumes, and file systems, and for real time explore.
3) The ControlCenter Fibre Channel Connectivity (FCC) Agent can gather switch, zoning and fabric data from Brocade, McData and Cisco switches.
I would recommend looking at the EMC ControlCenter 6.1 Overview doc on Powerlink under Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ E-I ~ Documentation > Ionix Family > Ionix for Storage Resource Management > Ionix ControlCenter > 6.1.x & Service Packs.
