ECC OVO integration , switch alerts .

Hello ,

We have integrated ECC with HP OpenView . Alerts that come to ECC are automatically forwarded to OpenView and depending on the alert OpenView generates proper Alert (via e-mail or sms ) .

We also configured our Cisco MDS 9513 switches so that switches send snmp traps to ECC server .

As a result if there is a problem with san switch , san switch informs ECC via snmp traps ,ECC informs OpenView and OpenView informs SAN administrator .

With this configuration when a port of a switch is down for any reason  the message that SAN administrator receives includes only this information ; " switch 1, slot 2, port 3 is down " .

But the host that is connected to "switch 1, slot 2 ,port 3" also has Ecc Agent installed and i would like to get the host name information too in the alert that SAN administrator receives from OpenView . So the alert that i would like to get should be " switch 1 ,slot 2,port 3 - host1 is down" .

Does anybody has configuration like this and has information on what should i ?

Regards,

I've been asking for something similar within CC itself for a while now. I get an alert in the console that a switch port is down, but because there is nothing currently connected to it I can't quickly identify the host impact. I go look at that port on the switch and it shows no connectivity. I would like to be able to track what WAS on that port when an alert got generated, but haven't found a way yet without going through reports to find out what was recorded on that port last time the report was run.
