ECC 6.1 and Getting SMC to Function Inside of it

We have been a long time ECC 5.2 shop, with SMC as a secondary app. We recently upgraded to ECC 6.1 so that we can integrate SMC inside of one application interface.

Quick background. SMC is running on a Virtual Windows Server and accesses a physical Solaris SYMAPI server. This configuration has been working for some time. Additionally, ECC accesses the same Solaris based SYMAPI server - with no problems.

Now that 6.1 is up and functioning, when right-clicking such SMC enabled functions as Optimizer (SMC), we get an error with "NO SMC Servers on this Symmetrix". When we click OK out of the error, we are returned to a screen prompting us to "Please select an SMC server", although the drop down list is empty.

Is there something I am missing that needs to be configured to get SMC to function?

Hi,

This issue should have been fixed in CC 6.1 - it was hotfixed in CC 6.0 by way of HF4205 which is automatically included in the latest Java HF4394 (6.0.0.0.563). I documented the issue in Knowledgebase article emc179315.

It would be a good idea to check my Knowledgebase article to see if the console.trc log extracts are similar to your issue in CC 6.1. Either way, I highly recommend that you open a SR as this need to be investigated by Technical Support (and probably escalated to Engineering).
