Hi Laurent,

You will still use the FCC Agent to manage the DCX. However, in CC 6.1 the FCC Agent leverages Brocade's SMI-S Agent; in CC 5.2.x/6.0 the FCC Agent leverages Brocade's Fabric Access Layer (FAL) to manage switches/fabrics.

Based on past experience I would say no.

They will probably have a patch for it sometime, but don't hold your breath. I am trying to confirm with my account team now though... we are expecting to have some DCXs on the floor within a few months and I would really like to be able to manage them.

I just got an answer from my account team. Apparently the DCX should be on the August release of the Support Matrix for ECC 6.1

Unless I've got the wrong info we should be looking at August 18th to be officially supported.

Yes, I got this wonderful news a few weeks ago. That is why we are rushing to upgrade to ECC 6.1... we have to support FOS 6.x

Yep, I can confirm that support for Connectrix ED-DCX-B Fibre Channel Director/Brocade DCX Fibre Channel Director will be included in this month's CC 6.1 Support Matrix (will be up on Powerlink in the next week or so).

However, the DCX will not be supported in CC 6.0 - Brocade won't support Fabric OS 6.0 on FAL (CC 5.2.x, 6.0); the only support is via the Brocade SMI-S Agent which is integrated with CC 6.1).

So, if i understand correctly, the way to manage DCX in ECC 6.1 is not via the FCC agent but via SMI-S agent ?

hi seamus, last question :
i understood that ECC 6.1 will be able to manage FOS 6.x via SMI-S. but what about the FOS lower than 6.x. Does the FCC agent ECC 6.1 will able to manage FAL also ?
(in other words) does the FCC agent ECC 6.1 will support SMI-S and FAL ?

Hi Laurent,

CC 6.1 does not have any FAL support, only SMI-S support. This is because Brocade is transitioning its firmware provider from its FAL agent format to an SMI-S Provider.

The supported FOS versions at CC 6.1 are currently 5.3.1 and soon to be supported 6.0.x.
