Cisco Switch discovery into ECC

Hi,

I was able to setup the Cisco switch(connected inbuilt to IBM chassis). We connected the SAN fabric and this Cisco Switch to bring into the SAN fabric.

I have created the SNMP traps on the Cisco Switch(like I did for a regular SAN Cisco Switch).

1.snmp-server community casnmp rw
2.snmp-server host x.x.x.x traps version 1 casnmp udp-port 161
3.exit

4.copy run start

After that, from ECC console I tried discovering the switch by providing IP,community as casnmp and port 162(tried 161 also).

Iam getting a partial discovery of the switch and popup window showing an warning message as

The specified community string does not include write priviliges, without write priviliges you will not be able to modify the zoning on the discovered fabric.Do you want to change the snmp community string now, or change the connection settings for this device later?

Change now
Continue and change later.

Did anybody come across this kind of message before.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bannu.

Bannu,

You need to setup read/write privileges on the switch itself. Please reference the latest 6.1 Planning & Installation Guide on Powerlink - check the 'Plan for Cisco switch discovery' sub-section.
