Adding devices to a storage pool
Hi All,
I'm starting to wonder if I have misunderstood what a storage pool is. I had the belief that I could move unmapped devices to a storage pool and effectively reserve them for a specific project or team. If can creaet a new pool very easily but when try to move a device it just laughs at me and I get the error.
"Cannot move copy or add 135 to WMS because cannot remove 135 from its home unmapped devices"
I am confused!!
Cheers

Was the device previously mapped? I'm just wondering if it still has a masking record assosciated with it? This would prevent a now unmapped device from being added to a Storage Pool.
Check out the ControlCenter 6.1 Storage Provisioning Services Allocating and Deallocating Storage doc on Powerlink. This is a detailed guide on Storage Provisioning Services (SPS) within ControlCenter.
Hope it helps...
