Installing an SSD in a Dell XPS 8300 using a USB recovery key
My 1.5Tb HDD crashed and I want to replace it with a 240Gb SSD. I need to use a USB recovery key to reinstall Win7 in my XPS8300. I have heard that I need at least as large a drive to use the recovery key.
Will I be able to use the USB recovery key to install Win7 on a 240Gb SSD?

I am buying the recovery USB from Dell since I didn't make one at the time I bought it in 2011. So I see that the 240Gb SSD will work. Thank you.

Did you create the recovery key using the backup and recovery app? If not, and you are talking about the reinstallation USB that came with the system, then yes, you can use it to install Windows on any size drive.
