Inspiron 15 7537 Beeping HDD
I have a new Inspiron 15 7000 (7537), and some of the time as I'm typing some taps on the keyboard cause a squeaky beeping noise to come from the area of the HDD. I'm not alone, there's a youtube video of the exact symptoms here:
For me, it's sporadic (it happens for a few hours while typing, and then is silent for a few hours - it may be each time I use the laptop as I move it around between uses)
This is at the least extremely irritating, at the worst very worrying.
Has anybody else encountered this issue? Any ideas what could be causing it? Is my brand new HDD on the verge of failure? A very worrying sign from an otherwise rather nice laptop...
Thanks for any help,
Jason

I believe I've tracked the problem down to the Dell FreeFall Data Protection driver. This is supposed to park your hard drive heads instantly to avoid data loss if you happen to drop the laptop, but it appears that I have a duff accelerometer which triggers this parking behaviour if the case is tapped lightly.
I uninstalled it (Control Panel > Programs > ST electronics accelerometer) 2 days ago and the noise has not occurred since, so it looks likely that this is the solution.
(I'm not worried about dropping my laptop. I've never dropped one, I've got a good backup, and I'll be glad to get rid of this uber-slow HDD and drop in an SSD - so for me FreeFall is unappealing anyway)

Fixed it. Looks like it was Dell Freefall Data Protection getting confused and constantly emergency-parking the HDD heads.

Hi Jason,
I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer after the above steps by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

"carefully to clean the hard disk head" isn't something that is EVER done by a normal person let alone a pc technician.

I have exactly the same problem.
Overall, this laptop has a very poor keyboard and mousepad. Poor quality.
I would not buy this rubbish again.
