Hard drive failing
I've got a Dell Studio 540 that is about 7 years old and a couple days ago it wouldn't boot into Windows Vista. I ran a diagnostic and it had error code 2000-0142. I did a factory restore and now the computer boots into Windows.
My question is if I get a new hard drive how can I reinstall Windows to the new drive.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Eddiegeer2001,
I assume you do not have a Vista disc. My suggestion would be to buy an external hard drive and drive imaging software and create a full backup image. Then purchase a new HDD and restore that image.

The only way I've had to reinstall is doing a factory restore.
I've got a 160GB external USB hard drive that I can use.
Thanks.

I bought an Inspiron 3252 the hard drive felt. This computer was a back up, but it didn't work. to buy an hard drive from Dell is very expensive. What can I do?
