Hard disk error, but diagnostics passes

I have an vostro 320 all in one computer. Yesterday it quit booting with a hard disk error, but when I run the hardware diagnostics everything passes. When I go into setup the Bious does not see the hard drive. Current Bious is 1.2.0 and current is 1.4.0.

If the BIOS doesn't see the hard drive, no - you'll need to replace the drive.

You can take a chance on reseating the drive (unplug the system and disconnect and reconnect the hard drive) but if it's then not seen by the system, it's toast and will need to be replaced.

Running extended diagnostics now. this is a All in one computer. Do you have any resources on how to disassemble the case?

Extended diagnostics just completed without any errors. Is there any way to do a reset?

If the BIOS doesn't see the drive, it's toast - if the system is under warranty, run the extended (NOT quick) diagnostics and record the error (most likely 2000-0151).  Report to Dell and they'll replace the drive.

If the system is out of warranty, it uses a standard 3.5" desktop SATA drive.

Service manual is here:
