dell 8700 installing a SSD
...
I just got a dell xps 8700, last month was unable to use it yet because I need to get a monitor so the PC still in the box.
My question is I want to remove the primary hard disk, and install a SSD in there or I have to install someone else?.
The SSD will be a Samsung 2TB 850, not sure if the Evo or Pro, probably the Evo since the pro is to expensive,
Any options, suggestions’ etc.

Hi Tonytony1,
Yes, you can certainly replace the HDD with the SSD. I assume you realize you have two options. Replace the HDD system drive with the SSD, or install the SSD as the system drive and use the HDD for data or backup.
Have you moved an OS from one drive to another before? Probably the easiest way to do this is to create a set of recovery discs, then use those to load the hard drive image to the new SSD.

Thanks;
I got my pc 2 month ago, XPS 8700, only the pc I did not get a monitor, the PC still in the box, cause I want to get a monitor, more memory, and a SSD disk, it not came with any DVD or CD for any programs or drivers, or operating system, what I want to do in the first place was to remove the system HDD ,and replace it with the SSD and use the HDD as my programs data, and install from the DVD the operating system in the SSD but since it not came with any CD’s or DVD’s I guess have to do the way you told me to, start the PC finish installing the OS create a set of recovery discs and install it in the SSD

Yes, that's the best way to go. Then you won't need an OS disc. You'll always have the factory hard drive image on those DVDs.
