Blu Ray drive HL-DT-ST CA40N failed

Hi my Blu ray drive has disappeared from "my computer" (win 7 ultimate) Device manager says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I have tried uninstalling the driver and restarting - Win 7 detects new hardware, and tries to install a driver, but fails and tells me to contact the manufacturer Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Dell XPS 2720

Hi I ran the Windows fix it tool on the 4th time it corrected the problem. I told the Fix it tool that I was trying to burn a CD rather than read one and that time it worked.

Hi Brian,

Can you post a screen shot of that registry key? Should look something like this.

To add to the last post - I have already tried regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} There is no upper or lower filters to delete thanks

Hi Thanks for your reply Just managed to sort the problem - Seems like its a known issue with iTunes http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308 there's a link on this page too for the GEAR drivers for DVD drives, which I found hard to find. Thanks again for your reply

Good to hear. Fix-it is a good tool but somewhat hit and miss.
