a second hard drive

hello everyone , i have a dell optiplex gx 580 desktop computer and i want to know if i can add a second   SATA hard draive to it  thank you  shesagordie

Sorry, but the Desktop version of the GX 520 does not support a second hard drive, only one 3.5" internal HD is supported, [page155] here:

But, if you are willing to loose the Optical drive, a second hard drive could be installed in the 5.25" bay.

Dell does not have an OptiPlex GX580 listed, in their Computer line up, but Dell does have an OptiPlex 580 listed, would this be your computer model?

The OptiPlex 580 Desktop version does not support a second 3.5" internal hard drive, but you could install 2 x 2.5" SATA HD's using an adaptor bracket, as the motherboard supports 3 x SATA devices

No, they not the same, there is a big difference between the OptiPlex 580 and the GX520.

The Optiplex GX520 is made in three different versions, eg. SFF [Small Form Factor], DT [Desktop] and the MT [Mini-Tower], which version do you have?
