Rebooting an EmailXtender server
I need to service pack my windows 2003 server that my emailxtender resides on. Is there anything special I should do like stop the incoming messages somehow. Kind of a rookie dealing with emailxtender. This is a virtual server so I do have the ability to take a snapshot prior. Not sure if this makes a difference or not, but this server houses SQL and EX database as well. It is the only active SQL database on this server. Thanks for you input!!

To employ this, open the registry on the extender system, and navigate to the following location:
HKLM > Software > OTG > EmailXtender > OnChange > SuspendMailPull
This key is default set to 0.
To stop mail pull, change this value to 1.
Make sure to change it back to 0 once you want to begin archiving again.
*** Note: This does not work for EmailXtract Tasks.

If it is not, I would recommend disconnecting the journaling mailbox, and activating changes.
From there, as a precautionary measure, you should close all open volumes.
Once all volumes are closed, stop the EX Services.
Proceed with Windows SP upgrade.
