EmailXtender & SourceOne coexistence - no search results

How can i check the connection between EX 4.8 Archive and ES1? I´ve added EX Archive to ES1 but the ES1 websearch isn´t displaying any results. Is there any other way to check the connection?

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Roger,

Yes you need mapped folder with right permission set to run the searches against. Users are going to need owner permission to access their emails. This not only helps with search but also with shortcut resolution.

Thanks,

Rajan

do you have your mapped folders in place, and have you updated shortcuts yet?

Thanks for the fast reply.

No I have no mapped folders in place jet (since the connection to the centera as native archive isn´t working as well, but thats another point to troubleshoot) and did no shortcut update so far, because a migration is planned in the near future. Do I have to create a mapped folder pointing to the EX 4.8 Archive folder to make the EX Archive accessable trough ES1?

Walter is correct. You need to add the mapped folder to the 4. 81 SP1 connector to EX. I would look at upgrading EmailXtender to 4.81.2518 as it is the latest release. Make sure you put the correct permissions for your users on the mapped folders. I would review the SourceOne 6.7 Admin Guide. The current configuration you should be on is 6.7 SP2 and EX 4.81.2518. You should look into migrating you EmailXtender data to SourceOne as EmailXtender end of life is coming up Mar. 31, 2012. No more releases of EmailXtender are currently planned and customers should be planning for SourceOne. Migration of the data is required to be done by certified partners. You should cut over to SourceOne as soon as you can. In preparation for migration all volumes wil need to be closed and all indexes to be healthy. COnsult with support if you have any issues with the volumes or indexes.

Mapped Folders must be done to get access to eMailXtender through S1 and to get search results to start to process into S1.  This is part of the co-existence you are trying to establish.  Also do make sure you are on at least eMailXtender 4.81.1459 (plus hotfixes 1469 and 1472) or later (we have found 4.6.2518 to be a little more stable for migrations).  SourceOne is preffered to be 6.7.2 (must be at least 6.6SP1).  These versions are also needed for the eventual migration (which must be performed by a certified migration provider - I work for one BTW).

You also will need to begin a shortcut update activity to convert stubs for retrieval through S1, as well as preferably getting some data into native S1 so that all archiving and indexing gets started off cleanly.

Refer to the S1 install and administration guides for establishing co-existence mode.  If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, reach out to EMC support, or let me know and I can get our team engaged with you to help get co-existence up cleanly and we can help you with the migration.
