ESRS VE 3.04 User not authenticated on first web page logon
Have run through the setup multiple times, setting different root passwords. When I try to logon via the web page with root and the current root password all i get is "User not authenticated". Have tried all the browsers with the same result. Any ideas?

You can try changing the root password at the Linux prompt and then retry logging into the GUI with that password. If it still fails, you'll need to remove the VM and redeploy the OVF file and install and provision the VM again.

Had to fully redeploy the OVF. Unsure as to what happened but that was the solution.

I faced this issue on the customer site when installing ESRS/VE 3.04.
I redeployed and I used the different password as root including special charactor (example @). Then I resolved this issue and completed the installation.
But I don't know the root cause of this issue.

I was able to resolve a similar situation by using ssh as root and running the following command:
/opt/esrs/webuimgmt-util/passwordAdmin.sh
This was after upgrading to 3.06

Late to the party, but I had a similar problem, and I fixed it. ESRSVE 3.12
When installing ESRS, you MUST change the hostname at the 1st boot, directly from the vmware console. Do not setup an IP and use SSH afterwards with yast and finish the setup... You will break the system.
On 1st boot, the hostname is set to linux by default. If you do not change the hostname, before the system initialisation is finished, or if yoiu
I found out because there is an error generated in /var/log/esrs/usermanegement.log:.
ERROR [2016-11-16 20:44:00,511] com.emc.esrs.usermanagement.ManageUsersBusinessService: CspException
The system hostname key is missing from the Lockbox. : File : /etc/esrsve/auth/cstdir/csp.clb
ERROR [2016-11-16 20:44:00,511] com.yammer.dropwizard.jersey.LoggingExceptionMapper: Error handling a request: cd1b94c07c816660
! java.lang.NullPointerException: null
hope this helps.

I had the same issue not being able to login to the WEBui the first time as root.
I went back in thru ssh and ran yast - change the hostname back to linux and domain to site
Rebooted. I was then able to login to the GUI via the root account and proceed with setting up the admin account.

I'm having the same issue. Changing the hostname and domain back to linux and site solves the issue but isn't exactly a long term fix. Has anyone found a way to set this to what they want and still have it work?
Thanks
