Error installing ESRS IP 1.1

Hello everybody,

I need your help with this. I have installed a new VNX5300 storage and this storage is resgister in powerlink website with my account. I tried to install the ESRS IP Client but it show me an error," The storage Systems is not register with powerlink". However, it has already register. Thanks.

The array was in the Shipped state and I changed it to Install.  Powerlink support provided me with the link below.  Try registering the product using that link.

Can you provide me with your Powerlink user name and the serial number of the array?

hello James,

I'm an EMC partner and I have this problem with ALL VNX systems sold.

Registering using that link don´t work for me.

If a try to install ESRS with my users, I can´t even login on ESRS instalation. What can I do?

That link is for customers to register a product.  EMC is not required to register a product in that way.  Are you trying to install the ESRS IP Client for VNX?  Not all partners can install ESRS.  What type partner are you - ASP, SM, SD, etc?

If you have a SecureID fob and are an ASP, SM or SD Partner, you should be able to install ESRS.

James, which kind of partners can do ESRS installs. I am in the middle of one now, and it requires token access to download ESRS. We are an ASN/Velocity partner.

Does the customer already have an ESRS [Gateway] Client in place?  I'm talking about the full feature product not the ESRS IP Client for VNX.

Nope, I am doing it all, these are their first EMC devices.

Are they planning on having any other EMC devices besides VNX installed anytime soon?  If not, then the customer can install (with your help) the ESRS IP Client for VNX or you can engage the customer's local account team to have a CE or IDE install the ESRS IP Client for VNX.  If you are planning other non-VNX systems, you might want to recommend they start the process to install an ESRS Gateway.

I don't have a fob, and I don't think we are one of those types of partners. Our customer has purchased 2 VNXs with ESRS and a VNXe, so does this include installation, or am I going to have to pay for them to provide installation services? Thanks for your help.

Data Domain is supported on the ESRS Gateway so I would go with that option.

They also just purchased Data Domain boxes, but DD is not supported by ESRS Gateway ?

Will the ESRS IP Client for VNX work for the VNXe?

Some quick notes on ESRS and Data Domain:

  • Must be ESRS v2.14, previous versions of ESRS do not support DD
  • ESRS currently enables connect-in activity only, not monitoring/alerts sent back to EMC
  • To enable connect-home capabilities, a separate email-home feature called "ASUP" needs to be set up
