SQL - Geo Dispersed Cluster - Mirrorview/Cluster Enabler

Hi,

I'm trying to rebuild our SQL cluster (before it goes live) but I'm getting stuck at the Cluster Enabler Configuration.

So far I have:

Installed OS (windows 2008 SP2 Ent)

Installed MS clustering (Node and File Share Majority (for clusters with special Config)

Installed Solutions enabler 7.1.1.0-1026

Installed MV/CE 3.1.0.10

Installed Power path

Installed NaviAgent

I am trying to configure Cluster Enabler but when I run through I am getting the following error.

Either no storage array is locally attached to the host [cluster node 1] or could not find remote storage attached to local storage. Do you want to continue?

Either no storage array is locally attached to the host [cluster node 2] or could not find remote storage attached to local storage. Do you want to continue?

An error occurred when setting site list in cluster properties. Either no storage array is locally attached to the host [Site 1] or could not find remote storage attached to local storage.

This install worked the first time around but now I'm rebuilding the cluster the config is failing at this point.  I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it but the storage still has the consistency groups associated with the original build (I don’t know anything about the SAN).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi Jirka, Yes I have managed to get this sorted.  The issuie seemed to lie with MirrorView.  Here are the instructions I noted when I upgraded the software.

To upgrade the CE plugin, you will need to do the following:

1) Move all cluster groups to node 1

2) On node 2, stop cluster service and EMC Cluster Enabler Event Trace Service and EMC Cluster Enabler services

3) Uninstall the current MV/CE plugin using add/remove programs.

4) Install 4.1.0.9 plugin and reboot.

5) When the node re-joins, move all cluster groups to node 2 and then repeat steps 2 – 4 on Node 1.

6) Test failover of all groups

I hope this helps.  Alan

I have since install the plugin 4.1.0.16 which may be a better option.

Cheers Alan
