Is there a password for RPA admin account?

You should call EMC support then. If the default username and password of admin do not work when connecting to the Management Console for the Cluster, then it must have been changed.

Hello RenW and welcome to the forums
I have moved your question from the Powerlink lite forum into the Replication and Recovery forum. It is more likely to receive an answer here, that's if RPA concerns RecoverPoint as I am assuming.

Yes I do. But in the manual, it only provides two logins: admin and monitor. No password. Am I missing anything?

Hi,

Thanks for your response. The admin/admin does not wokr for me.
As soon the password "admin" is typed, the session is disconnected.

Does anyone else manage the environment besides you? Because that is the default password for a new or upgraded installation of RecoverPoint. So if you can't logon with the username and password of 'admin' then it has been changed from the default.

This is a new RPA and I'm new too. I just had the unit partially configured with the Installation Manager and made it network accessable. We only have boxmgmt login acess and I don't think anyone here has any other account to login.

Are you sure, you do not have a pop-up blocker which is killing the RecoverPoint UI from starting?

Also, please make sure that you have at least Java 1.5_10 installed.

The latest version of RP, 3.1.SP1, will install Java 1.6.0_05-b13 when you first connect to the cluster IP over http.

i don't know whether you're using ssh to connect to the rp appliance (from your post, it seems that way because you mentioned your session was disconnected immediately). however, using securecrt, i've found that i needed to use the keyboard interactive mode not the password mode. in the password mode, as soon as entered the username, admin, the session would terminate. in the keyboard interactive mode, it would prompt me for the password.

Hello RenW,

It is a well know problem in recover point. Please use this below mentioned steps to resolve the issue:

Note:

If you are using RP3.2.x and later,  I suggest you to follow these below mentioned steps else contact EMC helpdesk to work with a Support engineer.


1) Login to RPA box from CLI mode as User: 'security-admin' and Password: ‘security-admin'

2) Run "unlock_user” and followed by the user account "admin". It will clear the lock for your admin account.

3) Run “set_user” and Hit enter, choose the “admin” account from the list, say “Y” to change the password.

4) Enter the new password as “admin” and confirm the password again. Now you all set to login with admin user.


FYI:-

CXS_SIte1> unlock_user admin


CXS_SIte1> set_user
Select user to modify:
1) admin
2) boxmgmt
3) monitor
4) security-admin
5) test
6) webdownload


Select: 1
Do you want to change the password for the selected user? (y/n)y


Enter new password (min. 5 characters):
Confirm:
User modified successfully.
CXS_SIte1>
