Hello Wasa,
There are no plans in the near future for a VMAX array-based splitter for RecoverPoint, however we do have fabric and host splitters that can be used with VMAX. Would you elaborate a bit more on your environment and what you need?

Hi Paula
We are currently using Santap fabric splitter. We now are in the process of migrating from CLARiiON to VMAX. Since Array based spiltter are far easier to manage, I was wondering if EMC has any plan for VMAX. In that case, we may avoid complexity as we do not have a requirement to replicate from mutilple type of arrays.
Thanks

I see the splitter is now released for the VMAXe, why not the VMAX? Since it is using the same code, is there a technical reason behind this?

Hello Boydbria,
Are you also looking to replicate between multiple EMC arrays, is that why you're interested in a RecoverPoint splitter for VMAX? If you'd expand on your use case, it helps us to better understand the needs of our customers. This in turn helps to drive our product roadmap.
Thanks,
Paula

Using the array splitter that is available in almost every other EMC product to connect to another EMC product instead of having to rely on SANtap would be awesome.
I would guess that existing Clariion/VNX customers who wish to use recoverpoint for replication to a Full VMAX or VMAXe should be considered.
Say I have a large primary site, but only want to replicate a small portion of that data to my old CX4 from my VMAX. I can't do that with recoverpoint now unless I'm using SANtap. Also financially it doesn't make sense to buy another VMAX on the other side with that small amount of data using SRDF/S or SRDF/A.
So let's say Customer A spent a big portion of money on a new VMAX but then learns that he can't license recoverpoint splitter because he bought the 'higher end' VMAX. Doesn't really make sense...it's backwards.
BTW, Recoverpoint, VMAX, VMAXe, CX3/4, VNX, etc are some of my favorite products... all of them talk to each other with built in splitters except for VMAX.
