RecoverPoint Three-site configuration (cascaded) Design
Hello to all,
I´m designing a cascaded recoverpoint configuration on a heterogeneus environment, here´s the scenario:
Site 1:
(1) HP P2000 (FC conectivity)
(2) MDS9222i
Site 2:
(1) Dell Compellent SC40
(2) Cisco MDS9222i
(2) RecovePoint Appliance
Site 3:
(1) IBM DS4700
(2) Cisco MDS9222i
(2) RecovePoint Appliance
As you know stretched CDP will be used between site 1 and site 2, and then CRR will be used for asynchronuos replication between site 2 and site 3. I´m using Cisco MDS9222i for write splitting.
The question is: Do I need CLR versions of RecoverPoint on each cluster or just in the cluster that manages the stretched CDP? If so, can I used just CRR in the cluster that is on site 3?
I attached a cascaded replication diagram so you can recall the architecture of the RP solution.
Any opinion is wellcome.
Regards!

For Site 3 you will only do CRR so no need for CLR or CDP.
For Site 2 you will need CLR. I assume that you will be replicating a volume from Site 2 to Site 1 and Site 3 or from Site 1 to Site 2 and Site 3.

You will need CLR since RP is not licensed per-cluster. You get a license for the entire RecoverPoint site and not for cluster1 and a seperate license for cluster 2.

Hi Ernes,
Thank you! So you´re saying that i'll need CLR versions of RP on secundary site and tertiary site?
I know that RP can´t be licensed per cluster but in order for me to make a configuration with Channel Express first I have to work with one site at once.
Regards!

That´s exactly what I want to do. Thank you!
