RecoverPoint 4.0 Virtual Appliance (vRPA) FC connectivity to VNX?
Hi All,
I understand that the ONLY current supported connectivity from VNX to vRPA ESXi Host is iSCSI...
Is there any plan or has anyone heard when future FC connectivity support from VNX to vRPA ESXi Host (as is supported for physical RPA)?
We can free up 2 spare FC ports/SP on VNX and can easily enable FC ports on ESXi Hosts... We dont have iSCSI SLICs or want to loose our only spare capacity slot to iSCSI SLICs! We want to use only spare Slot for future FC SLIC.
Cheers
Russell

Hi Russell,
The reason we don't support the vRPA over FC is that VMware ESX code currently prevents the vRPA VM from acting as a initiator and as a target.
I also wanted to add that the vRPA is now supported in all license formats which includes RP/SE, RP/EX and RP/CL but still requires VNX arrays at OE code 32 or above.
This coincided with the August 30th code release of 4.0 SP1. More specific details can be found in the New Features chapter of the RecoverPoint 4.0 Release Notes Rev A03.
Regards,
Richard

I haven't heard anything. This is what RP support now. iSCSI only.
Keep in mind that vRPAs are only supported for RP/SE (VNX splitter to VNX splitter only).

Hi Ernes,
Thanks for your reply.
Understand Recoverpoint/SE only supported for vRPAs, but dont understand iSCSI only support from VNX to ESXi Host when vRPA supports ESXi Host <> ESXi Host using FC or IP connectivity?

I'm with you. Wish fc was supported as well. Must be a reason behind it.
