Image access on Replica Volume-RP 4.1.2 and SRM with XtremIO 4.0.2-80
Hello,
With XIOS 4.0.2, it is possible to create a replica volume in No-access mode, and still map the volume to the ESXi host. My question is with replica volumes created in No-Access mode, when doing a test recovery using SRM, are the replica volumes given write access to the host?
Thanks

Hi, you need RecoverPoint 4.4.x code for the target XtremIO/replica to be in NR or RO (configurable). In that case, when Image Access is enabled (via Test Copy or while testing SRM recovery), then yes, RP will instruct XtrmeIO to change the state of the volume(s).
Thanks,

Yes, make sure you have are running RP 4.4.x and XIOS 4.0.2-80 which allows no access (no write access as opposed to read) until image access is initiated with or without SRM.

(having done this recently) The default is Read-Only and will need to be changed manually through CLI to No-Access.
Check out the release notes for 4.4 as there are a few enhancements for XtremIO (multi-cluster, RW, etc) as well as other bug fixes and feature enhancements for 4.4 in general. If you don't find yourself needing these features, there is no downside to using 4.1.2, but there might be some issue fixes and behind-the-scense enhancements with the later codes from a preventative standpoint.

Rich/ Zahid,
Quick clarification needed on RP 4.4.x.
1.When using RP 4.4.X with XIOS 4.0.2, do we still have to manually assign the replica volume as No-Access or does RP marks the replica vol as No-Access when replication set is created?
2. Is there any downside of using RP 4.1.2 with XIOS 4.0.2 other than the replica volumes being R/W?
Thanks

1. RP marks the replica volumes as No Access after CG creation.
2. There are a couple of other useful features in 4.4 which you can find in the New Features section of the 4.4 Release Notes.

ooh - thanks for that clarification Rich....from the docs it said it would make them read-only and from having this issue recently it was determined the default for XtremIO-to-XtremIO was read-only, so this is good to know and I will check it when I set this up again soon.
thanks
