Distributed Consistency Group (Minimum Journal Size)

Is there a minimum journal size I should be aware of before looking to build a distributed consistency group?

Found my answer:

The recommended journal size for distributed groups with

snapshot consolidation enabled is at least 40GB.

Thanks forshr  for the feedback.  This particular journal is the local journal in a CLR configuration, we don't do any fail back so I believe 40GB should be fine, still recommend multiple 10GB's?

The group would be split among two appliances in a single cluster.

Just a couple of comments to add.

Firstly, I would double this for a 4 x RPA DCG when using snapshot consolidation.

Secondly, depending on the number of RPAs assigned to the DCG, break the 40GB down to 4 x 10GB volumes (assuming 4 x RPAs).

Regards,

Richard

Yes as this would provide better utilisation all of the RPA FC ports plus the 10GB minimum constituent volume requirement relates to a known issue.
