R610 Information about virtualization
I'm buying a DELL PowerEdge R610 server. (Used)
2x Intel Xenon X5560 2.80GHz
128GB 800MHz 1.5V RAM
2x 717W Power Supply
It has hardware.

The seller says this server doesn't have virtualization.
When I look at the technical specifications, the processor supports virtualization.
I want to install programs like VMware and EXSI to work on virtualization.
I'm confused about this.
I'd like to ask for help from anyone with knowledge.
Tanks

Hi!
Your PowerEdge R610 with Xeon X5560 and 128GB RAM does support virtualization. The CPU includes Intel VT-x, which is required for running hypervisors like VMware ESXi.
try to make sure:
Virtualization is enabled in BIOS (F2 at startup > Processor Settings > Intel Virtualization Technology > Enabled).
You install a compatible hypervisor (e.g., ESXi 6.5 or Proxmox).
Let me know if you need help with setup!

@Osman06
we are a Dell shop and the 11Gen Hosts like your R610 can run old ESXi 6.7 and maybe 7.0 but it depends on your Storage controller which means PERC. ESXi can easily boot from the dual SD card or a USB thumb stick and your VM Datastore needs a real PERC H710 or external storage.
You CANT use the S110 because ESXi doest support Software/Chipset Raids.
Every R610 comes with 2x Broadcom 1GbE BaseT which are well supportet by ESXi.
Intel VT is by default enabled on every Dell Server.
Regards,
Joerg
