My best suggestion is study the supplied Student Guide and know it inside in out. Really put a focus on the practice questions and online practice test as this will give you a good feel for the type of questions that will be on the test. Also through the e-lernings at least once as they contain information that is not presented in the VILT.

Hope this helps and good luck.

There's 66 questions and only 60 count towards your overall score. A score of 63+ is considered passing. If you have the course materials make sure you study the questions at the end of each section and go over the practice exams as this will give you a good feel for the type of questions being asked.

Good luck!

Hello -

Thank you for sharing your experience in taking this exam.  Taking the practice test first is great advice!

Please keep in mind that exams are updated periodically and the passing score (as well as the number of questions) of an exam may change.  The passing score is also not the same for all exams.

Good luck on the exam Esteban!

Hello -

The exam description for the E20-545 exam can be accessed by partners and employees here.  This description includes information on exam topics, recommended curriculum and a link to the online practice test.

Are you sitting for this exam in the near future?

Can you recommend any additional training material for the 545 exam?  My company provided me with the video instructor lead training but I only managed to get a 50% on the exam this morning.  I do not think the videos had the material required for one to pass this exam.  Are there any books or other training materials available?

Hello - sorry to hear you had difficulty with the exam this morning.

Were you able to view the exam description document?  This contains information regarding the suggested curriculum which includes several e-Learnings in addition to the ILT/VILT.  The exam description document also contains a link to the online practice test which will help you to gauge where you may need to focus additional studying.

Best of luck!

Hi,

From Jan 2014, E20-545 exams is changed. New modules included in study material . So wondering about the number of questions are same (60) as previous exam. And passing score (63+) is same or does it got change?

I did the 545 exam (I think) 2 years ago and I used the VILT as well and I passed. Perhaps you are new to EMC storage? My background is with Clariion, which very much looks like a VNX in general, except for the new features. I found that the practice tests will actually give you some insight on how the actual exam is and also what the status of your knowledge is.

By the way: the passing score is a percentage, not the number of questions you need to answer correctly, so 63+ is 63+ percent.

Hello Dpak - The E20-545 was updated on January 3, 2014.  Please note the last update date for every exam can be found at the bottom of the corresponding exam description document.

The number of questions remains the same at 60, however the passing score is subject to change.  We do not publish the passing score of each exam as it does change from update to update and from exam to exam.  Please see this thread for more information regarding passing scores.
