inspiron one 2330 having any problems ( switching to 8 bit and video memory 0mb) win 7

ok I have a few questions I need some answers. I cant figure it out. I even updated drivers etc.

problem 1 when ever I restart my computer  everything comes up great. then the screen flashes black then pops up almost in sepia color. so I have to keep going to the resolution and change it to 32 bit. then its all fine.

problem 2 my system video memory is at 0mb.

have an idea of what the problem is? I even did a system restore but it wont let me go back any further then a couple days. all these problems just started on their own. and I tried to fix it but nothing. much help is appreciated.

Hi lbcult,

Run diagnostics on the system to confirm hardware functionality. Here are the steps:

  • Restart the system and immediately start tapping the 'F12' key to enter the 'Boot Menu'.
  • Use the 'Down Arrow' key to highlight the 'Diagnostics' option. Press the 'Enter' key.
  • The diagnostics will begin. Please note the exact error message/code, if any appears on the screen.
  • You may also refer to the video on the link http://dell.to/17DCL0R for more information.

Also, follow the steps shared in the video from the link http://dell.to/153NeEh. This will help us identify if there is any software causing this issue or not. Please update the video drivers of the system. Follow the below shared steps to perform a clean installation of video drivers:

  • Press the key combination of 'Windows Logo' key + 'R' key to open 'Run' dialog box.
  • Type in 'devmgmt.msc' and click 'OK'.
  • The 'Device Manager' windows will appear.
  • Under 'Display adapters', you will find the video driver listed.
  • Right click on it and click on 'uninstall'. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Check the box to delete the software.
  • Restart your system and click on the link: http://dell.to/15qqGcr
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • You will find the video driver under 'Video'.
  • Click on the video driver depending on the video card your system has. (Install the same video driver which you uninstalled from 'Device Manager').

Once the driver is updated, update the BIOS as well. Click on the link http://dell.to/186NL9d and download the BIOS. Double click on the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS. Restart the system and check functionality.

Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected before updating the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.
