Windows 8 driver for 1320c printer

The compatibiltiy shows that the drivers are in Windows Update.  I do not see it there.  Is there a different model's drivers that I can use?  The windows 7 drivers do not want to install unless there is a trick to getting them installed.

There is only one way to get these drivers working. If you automatically install this printer, Windows chooses the wrong drive, one called "Dell 1320c HBP". You must, instead, download the Dell driver for Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit depending on your system), then absolutely do not allow Windows to select the driver but do it manually, you'll find it works well on Windows 8.1. It's not straightforward to do this as Windows insists on choosing the driver so take care. If I remember I had to click "Add Printer" then "The printer I want isn't installed" option rather than choose the Dell 1320c as offered automatically. You then need to manually add the IP address for the 1320c and choose the driver - which is in the file from Dell called I think Drivers > X64.

Hi bbazian,

“Dell 1320c Laser Printer” is compatible with Windows 8 as this printer is there in the compatibility list of Windows 8. Click here to know more. When you connect your printer to your Windows 8-System (computer) the native drivers are installed automatically. And you will see the printer listed in your word processing software such as “Microsoft Word”. If the native drivers don’t install, please click here to download the Windows 7 drivers. You must install these drivers in compatibility mode. To install the drivers in compatibility mode please follow these steps:

a. Right-click the driver installation file and click ‘properties’. If you are using touch interface long-press and hold the file icon, when the icon becomes selected, release to display the right-click menu.

b. Click the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

c. Click ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Do reply with results.
