V715w Can't set wireless network

Dell V715w printer.  W7 x64.

Already updated firmware, clean uninstall/install, restarted router & modem, unplug, etc. (all the basics).  The network name on the printer's control panel says "print server 7ff5c4".  This is not my SSID.  When reinstalling, I never get the window to select the wireless network; instead, the installer goes straight to the push/pin connection methods.  Any help?  How can I do a hard reset on the printer?  I've already unplugged it for an extended period; I don't see a reset button; I've already done the two software resets on the printer.

Shorter version:  printer not finding correct wireless network; install software never gives me chance to select wireless network.

wdprice3,

This is puzzling. I have this model and have minor issues with it.

Unplug the printer from the wall. Remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This will reset any error messages the printer is getting. Maybe this will reset the printer.

wdprice3,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, the n restart your computer.

Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.

Start, control panel, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

With the computer online, insert the Dell Printer disk, choose new installation, network and follow the instructions. It should prompt for your network and password.

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

As I said in the original post, I have already gone through the uninstall/reinstall, and done that several times.  After choosing network installation, the installer eventually gets to the select push/pin connection method.  It never goes to the select network screen.  The printer/computer apparently are seeing some fake print server network and assuming that's correct.  I've used my CD and downloaded the installer from dell.  Neither is working.

wdprice3,

Stuck print jobs in the queue can cause all kinds of problems, even if you uninstall then reinstall, the stuck print jobs are still there.

When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

There are no print jobs in the queue and were none when I uninstalled/installed the printer several times; I haven't even been able to connect to the printer, much less even try to print something.  I have all of the proper drivers installed.  Is there not a way to do a hard reset on the printer?  I successfully added 3 different printers recently, just to test my computer.  The V715w is the only one that won't connect properly.  I'm pretty sure it's a printer issue, not a computer issue.  I appreciate your help, but I am not a novice user.

wdprice3,

When you installed the printer, with your computer online, after you selected network, new installation, you should have been prompted to connect the printer with the usb cable.

What color is the WiFi light on the front, orange or green or doesn;t it show.

Check to see if the wireless adapter is turned on. Turning the wireless adapter on/off in the Dell V715w Printer

That's the problem.  I'm selecting a new, network installation, but it never asks for the USB cable to be plugged in or to select which network to connect to.  It goes straight from the installer/unpacking to selecting the type of wireless connection (push or pin method).  The wireless light is orange.

I've even tried to install it on another computer and it does the same thing - goes from install to select wireless light color (orange) to select push or pin method.

wdprice3,

You should get prompted to connect the printer with the usb cable. Try resetting the printer to it's default settings, then make sur there are no stuck print jobs in the queue, restart the computer and try the installation again. I have installed this printer, with the computer online on may systems.

Resetting to factory settings

Resetting to factory default settings will delete all the printer settings you have previously selected.
Using the printer control panel menus

1 From the printer control panel, press ok
2 Press the up or down arrow button to scroll to Defaults, and then press ok
3 Press the up or down arrow button to scroll to Set Defaults, and then press ok
4 Press the up or down arrow button to scroll to Use Factory, and then press ok
5 When prompted to set the initial settings of your printer, make your selections using the printer control panel
buttons.
Initial Setup Complete appears on the display.

wdprice3,

Can you copy a document under the glass? Black & White and color?

Oh wait, misread that.  Removing the power brick worked!  Thanks so much.  I never thought to remove the brick; I've just been unplugging it from the brick and wall.

Already did this.  Even tried leaving it unplugged for a week; hoping the printer would completely reset.

Yes, all functions work normally, including all via USB.

wdprice3,

When you have it connected with the usb cable, did you do a firmware update?

Open Dell Printer Home, click on support, check for firmware updates

What virus program is involved?(sorry if I asked this before)
