Print Spooler problem on Studio 1550

Having a problem with print spooler on studio 1550 with windows 7.

Printer service is not running is not recognised by windows and will not start.

Reinstalled system, updated Bios, check for virus etc.

Had a look at spooler file(spoolsrv) and seems that it is incorrect in some way and very small size(Windows does not recognise it).

The original correct spooler file had been amended(presumably by BIOS at startup) with a org. file extension and is retained.

Can delete file, amend original file and then start spooler is services each time but this is a real pain...Does anybody have any other ideas?

Hi reders4,

Please follow the below mentioned steps to fix the spooler issue:

1. Click on start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off.

2. In the list of options in the windows features box scroll to an option Print and Document services and click on the + sign beside it. Check the image below:

3. Make sure that all the options here are checked. If not check them all and click ok and then it will ask for a restart.

4. Restart the computer and check if the spooler services are enabled /started.

Please post the results.

Hi reders4,

Every windows service has dependent services and processes that are associated for it to function properly. At times due to some software updates, these services either get change or modified. That was the reason behind this issue.

Hi Nikhil,

Seems to have done the trick.  Can't thank you enough, I have been trying to sort this out for ages.

Would be interested to know why it works? What have we done that allows the spoolsrv file to remain in tact?

Regards,
