Network problems with 715W
For months now (seems like years?) I've been having to regularly power cycle my printer, PC and modem/router to reinstate the network connectivity. Most recently (now) the connectivity died even to the point that I can't connect using a USB cable. If I try to print a test page using USB, it goes through the motions, pulls a page out of the paper drawer, abruptly resets itself and throws the blank page onto the output shelf. I've tried unsuccessfully with numerous resets of the router, different channels, power levels, etc.
Anyubody else experiencing similar issues? Of course I had also just replace my black cartridge and purchased 2 new black and a color cartridge to avoid running out (victimized by that one at Christmas when they were back-ordered!)

After spending over an hour on the phone with Dell, calling from Canada, getting bounced to half a dozen different reps in the US and then back to Canada again, it ended up that it was going to cost more for a little trouble-shooting than to buy a new (non-DELL) printer. I managed to get a RA# to be able to return the cartridges I just bought.
I then called my ISP as I had issues last week with my network that I thought might be related. After about 15 minutes with them, they found where a setting had been changed that ended up caused my problems. Even though they don't "officially" support printers, he worked through the setup with me and got my printer working again at 100%.

Argee77,
Can you copy a document under the glass? Black and white and color?
What color is the WiFi light on the printer?
What is the make and model of your wireless router and the type of security you're using? What channel?
What virus program and firewall are you using? Printer using the wireless adapter, correct?

Thanks for your response Rick.
Let me preface this by saying the printer had been working well in a wireless mode.
I can copy both color and B&W no problem.
The WiFi light is flashing orange. I was able to scan from the printer through to the computer with the USB cable.
I tried to establish the wireless link again but as it steps through the processes it gave check-marks through to connecting to wireless network but then fails to actually get an address. I then try to configure as wired installation but printing a test page starts but the printer resets before actually printing anything.
The modem/router is a DSL unit from my ISP. It is a 2WIRE 2701HG-G Gateway.
My laptop is a company-owned unit. Virus software/firewall is VIPRE. Printer is using its own wireless adapter.

Argee77,
WiFi light should be green, unless the printer is in Eco-Mode.
I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier. You may have to contact your ISP to get them to setup the settings. I have the printer using WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal) and it's always connected, unless there is a power flicker, usually during an electrical storm.
One thing you can try, if you try to setup the printer, choose new installation, network, then follow the instructions. If the printer fails to find or connect to your network, try connecting to a secured neighbors network, fake a password, then hit enter. It will fail to connect. Then try your network and password. Sometimes the adapter keeps some incorrect information and tricking it works.

Light used to be green when all was working properly.
I tried changing from channel 11 to 8 with no difference - went back to channel 11 again.
Uninstalled printer, rebooted PC, power cycled modem/router and printer. Finally got wired printing working again but wireless failed again.
Tried to print Network Setup page:
>Setup>Network Setup (OK) >Print Setup Page (OK) Display indicates "preparing page" and then printer resets without printing anything.

I use channel 11. Channels 1 and 6 should also work better.
I would run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V715w Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
With the computer online, insert the printer disk, choose new installation, network and follow the instructions.

The Dell V715w printer is the worse printer I ever owned. I had it for 1 1/2 years and I only used it 3-4 times. It does not work. Never worked well. Worthless printer.
