my all in one 513W

I am having problems with my printer which has now stopped working completely. The trouble shooter says it is fine and when I send a document to print it makes the start up noises but just doesn't print. The document I am trying to print registers in my control panel on the PC so I do not think it is the software on the PC that is at fault...... I have tried rebooting both printer and computer, re loading the software to run the printer and trying to link to it on a wired connection but still not working. Can anyone please help me?

Further to my message above - please see the solution that appears to have worked for me.  I have posted this in a couple of other threads to get the word around.

I have experienced exactly the same problem with my 313w.  I went through Dell Tech support and paid my $89 as the printer was out of warranty.  The first tech did not solve the problem but when I called back today, the tech solved the problem.  He told me that I had IE 11 installed with my Windows 7 and that IE 11 was designed to work fully with Windows 8 and still causes many problems in Windows 7.  He uninstalled the IE 11 update rebooted the computer and now the printer works fine!

If the tech's diagnosis is correct, Microsoft should be ashamed of putting out an update the causes problems with OEM peripherals!

Thank you so much. I uninstalled IE 11 update from 3 weeks ago and it now works! Festive Greetings

I agree that Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves.....

Thank you very much from me too - this has saved me quite a bit.

I wonder if this will also cure the strange problem I have been having with my PC backup software....

Burmbak,

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This will reset any error message the printer is getting.

Try copying a document under the glass. Can you copy in black and white? How about color?

Thanks Rick, I have dome what you suggest. The printer copies OK but it is still not printing when sent a document from the computer.

Burmbak,

Printer reset and copies ok, then it an issue on your system.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.

Start, control panel, programs and features

(Windows 8) Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features

Your printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

With the computer online, insert the Dell Printer disk and install the printer. If wireless, choose additional computer and follow the instructions.

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

I can't answer your problem but I have the same problem with my Dell V313w inkjet printer. I use it in conjunction with windows 7 (64bit). It has worked well for 3 years but suddenly will only print the first document selected after switching on the computer. When I try to print a subsequent document, the “See What’s Printing” window shows that the item is printing but nothing happens. When I try to delete the print job, the print window shows that it is deleting the job but once again. Nothing happens. It remains in the window. The only way to get rid of it is to restart the computer, after which the whole sequence starts all over again. I have checked the driver and firmware and they are apparently correct. I have updated windows and still have the same result. I have also tried deleting the printer software and reinstalling the latest version, all to no avail. I called Dell support, paid my $89 and spent more than an hour with Dell on my computer and still the same result. The Dell tech thinks that I may need to re-install Windows 7 from scratch. That sounds like overkill to me when considering all the windows updates that would need reinstalling. Does anyone have any other ideas? Help!

cdrrn,

Run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.

Check your virus program and firewall. If you need help, post what virus program and firewall you're using.
