carlalaura,
Scanning is on page 55 in the Dell V525w Printer Manual Make sure you have the proper paper size selected.. I am not near my printer at the moment but when you scan, I think you can select the paper size, I think mine is set for automatic.
You will have to use the Automatic Document Feeder to scan the legal size document.

I would think the only way to scan a legal size document is to use the ADF.

I tried that but it only gets part of the document. If there is a way make it scan the whole document.
