Dell V313w

I have the following problem with my Dell V313w printer, which I received free with my Inspiron 14z about 16 months ago:- I can send any type of document for printing via USB or wireless and it will print successfully. However, if I then attempt to print a second document, the process stalls. The printer head moves slightly, suggesting that some sort of 'signal' appears to have been received by the printer and the 'status' indicator shows that the document is printing - but nothing happens. When I then try to cancel the file from the queue it just hangs, with the status indicator showing that the document is 'deleting'. The only way to fix this is to turn off both the printer and laptop and reboot both. The 'stalled document' then prints without being re-sent and I can also print a second document. However, if I try to print a third, the process stalls once again. I have also tried reinstalling the driver - twice - but to no effect. This post is my final attempt to find a resolution before I ditch the printer and purchase a replacement from an alternative manufacturer. Has anyone had the same experience and managed to resolve the problem ? Many thanks.

Mike Davidson,

In the last batch of Windows Updates, Microsoft installed Internet Explorer 11. IE11 had been causing printer problems.

Open Internet Explorer, click on Help, then click on About Internet Explorer. It should show the version there. If you have IE11, then go to control panel, Windows Update, Installed Updates, look for Internet Explorer 11. Click on Internet Explorer 11, uninstall.

Restart the computer, when prompted. Then see if your printer works.

Many thanks, Rick.  Now that I have uninstalled IE11, the problem appears to be sorted.  I guess I should also have read the other, similar posts where you had also posted your answer !

Your advice was right on!  I have a Dell Wireless V313 printer that would only print once and then the print jobs would freeze in the print queue.   Only after a reboot would the jobs print.   For 8 weeks, I was going crazy running all the Dell and Microsoft printer diagnostics with no luck.  I took your advice and uninstalled Explorer 11.   I reinstalled an old version of Explorer and now my printer works fine.   All print jobs successfully go to the printer and the jobs are finished.  Last night the Microsoft Helpline wanted $150 to investigate my problem.  Your advice saved me the angst of dealing with Microsoft technicians remotely and $150.

Thanks again, I hope other users with the same problem read your recommendation and correct their problem.   Both Dell and Microsoft should be alerting users about this problem.

Thanks

I have the same problem in that the printer will not work twice.  I have uninstalled IE11 but this has not cured the problem.
