Dell A920 Printer Driver for Windows 8

Hi -

I've followed the instructions under other posts and installed the A920 Print Driver on my Windows 8, however, when printing there seems to be an issue in identifying the ink levels.  The display window shows no ink and thus doesn't allow the print queue to proceed.  Is there a remedy for this issue?

Thanks

TheIndianBradPitt,

Try the procedure below...

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 8 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 8 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Virus programs and firewalls will block communications. If you did not install any, then Windows Defender is the default. Try reading...

TheIndianBradPitt,

Printer needs enough ink in the Dell Series 1 ink cartridges to stop the error message or the rpitner will not function.

Hi Rick,

The printer has enough ink as both cartridges are relatively new.  I use the same printer with a Wins 7 laptop and the ink levels on that show sufficient for it to work when attached to that laptop.

When attaching to the Wins 8 laptop, the ink levels in the print dialogue box are "X"'d out.  Subsequently not allowing the print job to proceed.

Please advise.

Thank you
