Can't Set Static IP Address In 3100cn

I recently upgraded my system to Windows 8, my first mistake.  Before I could always access my printer over my LAN using an assigned IP address.  No when I want to make ANY type of change to the printer, A login screen pops up asking for a user name and password.  I have NEVER set a user name or password for this printer so that is a problem.  I've tried using the default username of admin and 0000 without success.

Next, I initialized the NVRAM in the printer to factory defaults, still no joy!

I tried using the login username and password for the machine - no joy!

Now, I have a printer that I cannot manage and I'm open to ANY and ALL  suggestions on how to fix this.

Thank you for your kind attention/

Hi big buddha,

Welcome to the community.

Default username is admin and password is password. Please try the same and if it doesn't work then you have to follow the procedure below to clear NVRAM for the printer:

Note: This may delete the network and printer settings saved on the printer page.

Procedure #1 Clear NVRAM (under maintenance)

You can restore the original factory default menu settings by initializing NVRAM. (Does not reset Network or Security settings)

1. Press Menu

2. Press "down" until Configure appears, and then press "right"

3. Press "down" until Maintenance appears, and then press "right"

4. Press "down" until Init NVRAM appears, and then press "right"

The Init NVRAM Are you sure? message appears on the operator panel. Press the "enter" button in the center.

5. Wait until you are prompted to restart the printer, then turn off the printer, and then on again.

Procedure #2 Clear NVRAM (under Network)

This will restore the original factory default settings for Network and Security (default username = admin / default password = password (at least in my case)). Keep in mind that the default Network settings are for DHCP.

1. Press Menu

2. Press "down" until Configure appears, and then press "right"

3. Press "down" until Network appears, and then press "right"

4. Press "down" until Init NVRAM appears, and then press "right"

The Init NVRAM Are you sure? message appears on the operator panel. Press the "enter" button in the center.

5. Wait until you are prompted to restart the printer, then turn off the printer, and then on again.

Please perform these steps and let us know the results of the same so we can advise you further.

Thanks and Regards
