Cannot Print

I'm unable to print because of a Print Spooler Error message. "Printer is not spooling properly" or something like that. It was working fine until a week ago and now I simply cannot print. I did not change any setting or install any new software. Can anyone help? I'm using a Dell XPS 14.

Hi,

This issue is due to DEP (data execution prevention) blocking the spoolsv.exe executable file.

Please run the Microsoft Fix-it from the link below.

http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9740813

The fixit should solve the issue.

If the issue still persists, disconnect the USB cable that runs from the printer to the computer and uninstall the printer driver by using third party uninstaller software. Here is a link to download one.

Install the software and uninstall the printer driver using the Advanced Uninstall option from the software.

The software prompts asking you to delete the Registry keys corresponding to the printer driver. Select all and delete them.

Restart the computer to remove any traces of the printer software.

Perform the steps below and ensure that the services required for the printer to work are started.

  • Click Start.
  • Type “Services.msc” in the search box and hit the Enter key.
  • The list of services to be enabled are
  1. Human Interface Devices (HID).
  2. Printer Spooler.
  3. RPC (Remote Procedure Call).
  4. RPC Locator (Remote Procedure Call Locator).
  5. Windows Installer.

Right click the service, click properties, set the service to start “Automatically” and Start the service. Do this with all the services.

Download the printer driver from the Manufacturer’s website and install it.

Please let me know if this helps.
