RAID 0 for 2 SSDs with SED
Hi,
Any one can let me know if I buy a new Precision 7770 mobile workstation can use RAID 0 to config 2 SSDs with SED function?
The reason is that company policy that all hard disk must have SED. I want Disk 1 and Disk2 can use RAID 0 to increase disk speed for large scale simulation. Another Disk (Disk 3) for data storage.
Thanks a lot.

Hello @Qing Yu , here is the spec-sheet for Precision 7770. On the system configurations for purchase, you can select SED as your boot drive. You can also select option for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. But not both.
Unlike spinning hard drive, the NVME SSD does not double the write speed in RAID 0, just a slight increase. You might want to research a little more into RAID performance for NVME SSD before making the purchase so that you will know what to expect.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Yes, my idea is from old mechanical hard disk. Based on your reply, I will not choose RAID 0 any more.

Hi,
One more question, SED SSD has only 1 TB choice? 2 TB and 4 TB are available?
Thanks

Hello @Qing Yu , I only found 1 TB as the highest capacity SED offered in the system configuration page and it is a gen 3, not gen 4.
You can always add more storage after purchase. The process is very easy and it will be a lot cheaper too. Samsung and Intel do offer 2 TB SED drives. Check your market/area.
